A U.S. Navy Sailor, assigned to Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4, and a U.S. Marine, assigned to 7th Engineer Support Battalion (ESB), scrape away excess mortar from a concrete block wall on April 12, 2024, on Palawan, Philippines. NMCB 4 and 7 ESB were tasked with building Taritien Elementary School to increase local access to education. NMCB 4 is forward deployed throughout the Indo-Pacific region to support and maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific. As the stand-in, crisis response, naval engineering force, NMCB 4 maintains a ready posture to deliver in-theater expeditionary logistics via expeditionary shore infrastructure, forward damage repair, and mobile construction.
