YOKOSUKA, Japan (April 25, 2024) — Cmdr. Tyler Scharar, public works officer of Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka (CFAY) carries a wood pallet during a beach cleanup event as part of the CFAY’s Earth Day observance. More than 40 Sailors, civilian and Japanese employees across the command volunteered and cleaned up the beach behind the Navy Exchange Yokosuka’s warehouse. For more than 75 years, CFAY has provided, maintained, and operated base facilities and services in support of the U.S. 7th Fleet’s forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and thousands of military and civilian personnel and their families.
