Michael Wells, a sheet metal worker in the H-53 Aircraft Components Shop at Fleet Readiness Center East (FRCE), prepares a plate used to check an H-53 spar fitting’s mount feet for excessive gaps. The plate is used as part of a procedure developed and refined by a team of artisans and engineers at FRCE in order to improve the manner in which the aircraft’s spar fittings are evaluated for fit, resulting in a higher acceptance rate and faster turnaround times for the components.
