Jesse Hamula, assigned to Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, attempts to deadlift 535 pounds during the 1,000 Pound Club tryouts at the Hohenfels Gym near Hohenfels, Germany, Aug. 19, 2023. Every three months, U.S. Army Garrison-Bavaria Hohenfels hosts “1000 Pound Club” tryouts where Soldiers conduct bench presses, back squats, and deadlifts at their maximum weights for the sum of at least 1,000 pounds.
