U.S. Marines of Transportation Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 23, Marine Corps Forces Reserve, prepare to sling load equipment to a UH-60 Black Hawk during Northern Strike 2023 on Camp Grayling, Michigan, Aug. 9, 2023. Sling load operations allows the rapid movement of equipment by helicopter from one location to another. NS23 offers a unique opportunity for the Marines of CLB-23 to train alongside the Army. Northern Strike is one of the National Guard’s largest joint, readiness producing exercises, held annually at Michigan’s National All-Domain Warfighting Center, which consists of Camp Grayling, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, the Selfridge Air National Guard Base and other training areas. It is designed to challenge the training audience in many ways, including contested sustainment/logistics. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Patrick Mayabb)
