U.S. Army Soldiers of 2nd Battalion, 104th Regiment, Nebraska National Guard, fly a UH-60 Black Hawk as part of a joint sling load exercise with Marines of Transportation Services Company, Combat Logistics Battalion 23, Marine Corps Forces Reserve, during Exercise Northern Strike 2023 on Camp Grayling, Michigan, Aug. 9, 2023. The Marines of CLB-23 are required to sling load certify each year, and this year they were able to do so on the UH-60, which is not a platform organic to the Marine Corps. Northern Strike is one of the National Guard’s largest joint, readiness producing exercises, held annually at Michigan’s National All-Domain Warfighting Center, which consists of Camp Grayling, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, the Battle Creek Air National Guard Base, the Selfridge Air National Guard Base and other training areas. It is designed to challenge the training audience in many ways, including contested sustainment/logistics. (U.S. Army National Guard photo by Sgt. Patrick Mayabb)
