JOINT BASE LEWIS-MCCHORD, Wash. – A U.S. Army resident with Madigan Army Medical Center holds up an IV bag during Madigan Army Medical Center’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) Capstone Event on May 17, 2023. The GME Capstone Event is a five-day exercise undergone by more than 70 graduating resident physicians that tests various tactical and medical skills in a simulated combat environment. During the event the doctors were escorted by Green Berets with 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne) who provided notional safety and security. This training provides graduates with valuable hands-on experience in a field setting to prepare them for operations in austere environments. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Emily Dawson)
