Service members assigned to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) transport the remains of U.S. Army Cpl. Luther Herschel Story, a missing in action soldier posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for actions during the Korean War, during a ceremony at the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, May 11, 2023. Cpl. Story’s remains were buried as unknown in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, until they were disinterred and moved to the DPAA laboratory in June 2021. The scientific analysis and circumstantial evidence lead to the identification of Cpl. Story in April 2023. Cpl. Story's remains were transferred to his home state of Georgia for burial.
