Cryptologic Technician (Collection) 2nd Class Melanie Santiago and Machinist’s Mate 2nd Class Shantwanae Akins of the USS San Antonio (LPD 17) hold the flower wreath as they lead the way during the 105th annual Pilgrimage to the Alamo, Fiesta San Antonio 2023. Sailors representing several naval commands, marched the silent 6-block pilgrimage from the Vietnam Memorial at the Tobin Center to the Alamo and presented a floral wreath in honor those who died defending the Alamo on March 6, 1836. Navy Talent Acquisition Group San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 30 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
