Every four months the Trinity Bird Count volunteers perform a census at the Lower Chain of Wetlands, built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Fort Worth District for the city of Dallas. A public tour Saturday introduced more Dallas area residents to the intricacies of this quality habitat, which is also a green tech method for lowering flood risk within the Dallas Floodway System. Bird-friendly aquatic plants in the wetlands attract migratory birds traveling the Central Flyway.
