Rows of headstones cover the grounds of the Manila American Cemetery and Memorial (MACM), in Manila, Philippines, March 1, 2022. MACM, which is ran by the American Battle Monuments Commission (ABMC), is the temporary resting place of over 3,200 unknowns. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) in conjunction with ABMC, has disinterred over 500 of these unknowns and transported them back to DPAA facilities at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii to begin the identification process.
