Two students try out a beekeeper’s protective helmet and veil at SciTech Days – Animals and Wildlife held at the Carnegie Science Center on Pittsburgh’s North Shore, February 17, 2023. Beekeepers with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers follow Pollinator Protection and Enhancements policies, which maintain that that bees grown on federal land can only be utilized for pollination. The honey produced is strictly for the bees to consume. SciTech Days connects middle school and high school students with real-world scientists, engineers, tradespeople, and other STEM professionals from local companies, organizations, and universities.
