Japanese Ambassador to the Republic of Palau Yoshiyuki Sadaoka speaks with Lt. David Nobles, weapons officer aboard USS Benfold (DDG 65), during an Independence Day reception aboard the ship on July 4 in Koror, Republic of Palau. Benfold is in Palau for a port visit while transiting the 7th Fleet area of operations. Palau and the U.S. have a close relationship governed by the Compact of Free Association.
