U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Palau Helen Reed-Rowe passes through sideboys upon arrival for an Independence Day reception aboard USS Benfold (DDG 65) on July 4 in Koror, Republic of Palau. Benfold is in Palau for a port visit while transiting the 7th Fleet area of operations. Palau and the U.S. have a close relationship governed by the Compact of Free Association. As part of the compact, the U.S. is responsible for the defense of Palau, which has no military forces of its own. (U.S. Navy photo)
