ATLANTIC OCEAN (April 6, 2022) - Boatswain's Mate Seaman Samuel Martyka, from Joliet, Illinois, performs a communication check from a rigid-hull inflatable boat prior to small boat operations aboard the Expeditionary Sea Base USS Hershel "Woody" Williams (ESB 4), April 6, 2022. The joint U.S. and Cabo Verdean team, with support from the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and Maritime Analysis and Operations Centre - Narcotics (MAOC-N), interdicted one of the largest trans-oceanic drug shipments. Hershel "Woody" Williams is on a scheduled deployment in the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national interests and security in Europe and Africa.
