Ashlee Barnes, medical laboratory technician, 1st Area Medical Laboratory (AML), and native of North Augusta, S.C., prepares liquid samples that were collected during a training exercise at Fort Bragg to place in the BioVeris M1M Analyzer that will test the levels and chemicals present in the sample. The 1st AML, a unit designed as a deployable laboratory with the capability of detecting and identifying environmental contaminations that could harm service members on the battlefield, is stationed at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md.
