Lee Ann Grigsby-Puente, president of Reclamation District 2140, and Col. James Handura, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District, observe the new setback levee in Hamilton City, California, December 11, 2021. That day, both districts held a milestone ceremony to mark the levee’s completion. The levee is part of the Hamilton City Flood Damage Reduction and Ecosystem Restoration Project, a USACE partnership with Reclamation District 2140. The project’s goal is to reduce flood risk to Hamilton City while restoring approximately 1,400 acres of riparian habitat.
