A recently installed blue roof sits atop a house Grand Isla, Louisiana, Oct. 9. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is installing the temporary roofs to protect homes from additional damages caused to Hurricane Ida. USACE and its contractors have installed more than 22, 000 blue roofs within 25 parishes. The deadline to apply for the free service is Oct. 15.
