U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Calvin West, a dental NCOIC from the 165th Medical Group, Georgia National Guard, restocks medical supplies in the heart and vascular medical intensive care unit September 16, 2021 while activated to assist at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Georgia. West was activated to help with COVID-19 pandemic response from April to July in Atlanta and is now serving here in Savannah in response to the current spike in cases. With over 23 years of service, West said he never thought he would be activated to serve at a local hospital in his Air National Guard career, however, he has enjoyed the unique opportunity to help local medical providers in this time of need.
