The Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Gen. David W. Allvin, emphasizes the impact the Airmen, Soldiers, and contractors of the Director of Mobility Forces Operations Center have as they track and project air travel for Afghan evacuees during his tour of a site near Dulles International Airport in Herndon, Virginia, Sept. 8, 2021, to locations within the United States. The Department of Defense, through U.S. Northern Command, and in support of the Department of Homeland Security is providing transportation, temporary housing, medical screening, and general support for at least 50,000 Afghans at suitable facilities, in permanent or temporary structures, as quickly as possible. This initiative provides Afghan personnel essential support at secure locations outside Afghanistan. (U.S. Army photo by Sgt. 1st Class Tony White, 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command)
