U.S. Navy Lt. Jameel Daniels, the chaplain for Task Force Koa Moana 21, I Marine Expeditionary Force, leads members of the U.S. armed forces and citizens of the Republic of Palau in a closing prayer during the 20th 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony held in the Palau Community College in Koror, Republic of Palau, Sept. 10, 2021. The ceremony was held to remember those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001, and to honor those men and women who made the choice to defend their nation and their way of life. For more than 70 years, the United States has stood with the Republic of Palau. On that day, Palau stood with the United States in solidarity and support. The two countries have a strong relationship, as signified by the Compact of Free Association, and that relationship continues to grow as the two countries strive for a free, open Indo-Pacific.
