The Honorable Uduch Sengebau Sr., vice president and minister of justice for the Republic of Palau, speaks to members of the U.S. armed forces and citizens of the Republic of Palau during the 20th 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony held in the Palau Community College in Koror, Republic of Palau, Sept. 10, 2021. During the ceremony, Sengebau commented on the long, rich history the U.S. and Palau have shared stating “Palau is grateful for the U.S.’s leadership and partnership. We are part of a family with the U.S.” She closed by thanking the U.S. “for defending our nation and our way of life.” The U.S. has a special relationship with the Republic of Palau as signified by the Compact of Free Association, which highlights the mutual trust and commitment between the two countries.
