APRA HARBOR, Guam (Aug. 24, 2021) Fire Controlman 1st Class Juan Diego, from Del Rio, Tex., heaves mooring lines at a mooring station during a sea and anchor evolution on the flight deck aboard the littoral combat ship USS Jackson (LCS 6). The Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed to operate in near-shore environments, winning against 21st-century coastal threats. The LCS is capable of supporting forward presence, maritime security, sea control, and deterrence. Jackson is conducting routine operations in the U.S. 3rd Fleet area of operations.
