U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Jamaal Young, assigned to 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion (Airborne), Task Force 4-25, is awarded the Purple Heart on Forward Operating Base Salerno, Khost province, Afghanistan, Sept. 12, 2012. Young was injured on June 1 when a 2,000-pound, vehicle-borne improvised explosive device exploded near his location on FOB Salerno.
