    Members of the 100th Maintenance Group finish refueling a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft assigned to the 100th Air Refueling Wing the first-ever hot-pit refuel of a KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft in all of U.S. Air Forces in Europe command at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, Jan. 8 2021. “Hot-pit refueling,” is another name for an engine-running refuel while the aircraft is grounded. “Hot-pit refueling,” is another name for an engine-running refuel while the aircraft is grounded and is a capability being built to increase efficiency on the ground and increase the amount of gas in the air.
