NAVAL AMPHIBIOUS BASE CORONADO, Calif. (Jan. 8, 2021) Hospitalman Kyler Lenz, attached to Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Unit Naval Base San Diego, prepares a COVID-19 vaccination for personnel from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Group (EODGRU) 1 and its subordinate commands, Jan. 8, at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, Calif. The voluntary COVID-19 mass vaccination supported Department of Defense priorities aimed at protecting the American people, maintaining readiness and supporting the national COVID-19 response. EODGRU-1 is a critical part of the Navy Expeditionary Combat Force (NECF) that clears explosive hazards to provide access to denied areas; secures the undersea domain for complete freedom of maneuver; builds and fosters relationships with a constellation of capable and trusted partners; and protects the homeland and American way of life.
