Marines from the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit watch as a C-Tractor tugboat pulls the USS Rushmore from Naval Base San Diego, Calif., to begin the 15th MEU’s Certification Exercise, Aug. 15. The CERTEX is the MEU’s final training exercise before deploying later this year. The two-week training evolution evaluates the unit’s ability to complete missions it may face while forward deployed.
