U.S. Master Sgt. Robert Ryan, a fuels distribution operator assigned to the 379th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron, carries back a fuel hose from a U.S. Air Force F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft assigned to the 480th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany, and deployed to Al Dhafra Air Base, United Arab Emirates, during a hot-refuel at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. Maintainers from the 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Group alongside the 379th ELRS are trained and qualified to support 24-hour operations through hot-refueling which allows an aircraft’s engines to remain running during the refuel and quickly return to U.S. Central Command’s airspace.
