    31st Marine Expeditionary Unit

U.S. Marine Lance Cpl. Harry Stapleton, a radio operator with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), and native of Linn, Missouri, tests a radio during a communications exercise (COMMEX) in the Central Training Area, Okinawa, Japan, Nov. 22, 2020. COMMEX is a pre-deployment exercise to ensure the unit is able to push out from the main body to set up communications and enable communication capabilities through field expedience. The 31st MEU, the Marine Corps' only continuously forward-deployed MEU, provides a flexible and lethal force ready to perform a wide range of military operations as the premiere crisis response force in the Indo-Pacific region.
