Two men are examining framed black-and-white photographs of military aircraft displayed along a hallway wall. The photographs appear to be part of a curated aviation or military history exhibit, with blue and orange matting inside dark wooden frames. The man in the foreground, wearing a white shirt and striped tie, is gesturing toward one of the photographs while studying it closely.

Richard Ward II and Ann J. Ward view a historical photo of an F-84D Thunderstreak in Peoria, Ill., Aug. 27, 2020. The Wards are children of Capt. Richard Ward, an F-84 pilot who died in an on-base aircraft accident during the June 1959 drill weekend. The captain’s Distinguished Flying Cross earned during the Korean War was bestowed to them by extended family during a ceremony on the installation after being lost for 61 years.
