    182nd Airlift Wing

    U.S. Air Force Col. Daniel McDonough, the commander of the 182nd Airlift Wing, Illinois Air National Guard, takes family members of Capt. Richard Ward through a tour of the unit’s air park in Peoria, Ill., Aug. 27, 2020. Ward, an F-84D pilot, died in an on-base aircraft accident during the June 1959 drill weekend. The captain’s Distinguished Flying Cross earned during the Korean War was bestowed to this children by extended family during a ceremony on the installation after being lost for 61 years.
