Command Sgt. Maj. Butler J. Kendrick (left), senior enlisted adviser for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, presents Maj. William S. Whitman with a brigade coin during a visit to the Col. Walter M. Whitman Regimental Library at 2BCT Headquarters July 19. Maj. Whitman is the grandson of Col. Whitman, the first commander of the 325th Regiment. Col. Whitman served as the Regimental commander during WWI until the unit was demobilized on May 18, 1919. Maj. Whitman is an Army reservist for the Judge Advocate General's Corps assigned to United States Forces Command. He is a native of Prattville, Ala.
