Information Systems Technician Seaman David Armstead and other Sailors aboard the guided-missile frigate USS Vandegrift stand by on a heaving line during a replenishment at sea with the Military Sealift Command dry cargo ship USNS Richard E. Byrd (T-AKE 4). During the evolution, Vandegrift took on more than 90,000 gallons of fuel and 35,000 pounds of food, mail, as well as parts and supplies.
