Byrd (T-AKE 4). The U.S. Coast guard national security cutter USCGC Waesche (WMSL 751) transits alongside preparing to make its approach to Richard E. Byrd. Vandegrift took on more than 90,000 gallons of fuel and 35,000 pounds of food and supplies.
