An E-3 Sentry assigned to the 962nd Airborne Air Control Squadron refuels from a KC-135R Stratotanker assigned to the 168th Wing, Alaska Air National Guard over Alaska, March 10, 2020. The Sentry refueled on a sortie to the high arctic to demonstrate the North American Aerospace Defense Command’s ability to detect threats in the region and its access to North American airspace. Members of the U.S. Air Force and the Royal Canadian Air Force participated in the flight of the airborne early warning aircraft which lasted approximately nine hours and traveled 1,700 nautical miles north from Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
