    Army Staff Sgt. Matthew Cook, a Joint Terminal Attack Controller instructor from the 75th Ranger Regiment out of Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., takes compass readings during a training exercise on Razorback Range located at Fort Chaffee maneuver training center, Ark. The 188th Fighter Wing, Fort Smith Air National Guard, hosted a week long Special Operations Exercise (SOFEX) with the 75th RR supported by an AC-130U Spooky gunship from Hurlburt Field, Fla. Nearing its second deployment to Afghanistan with the A-10, the 188th regularly conducts training with JTACs from different branches of service to sharpen its close air support mission.
