200221-A-BP481-1200 ARABIAN GULF (Feb. 21, 2020) Gunner’s Mate 1st Class Shawn Northern uses the throttle control to move the coastal patrol ship USS Tempest (PC 2) into open water as the ship heads to Nautical Defender 20 (ND). ND is a bilateral maritime exercise between the U.S. Navy and the Royal Saudi Naval Forces designed to build and sustain war-fighting capabilities, support long-term regional security and enhance military-to-military interoperability with the U.S. and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
