ATLANTIC OCEAN (Jan. 21, 2020) Aviation Support Equipment Technician 2nd Class Juan Hernandez, from New York, assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) aircraft intermediate maintenance department, drives a forklift in the ship's hangar bay. Aviation Support Equipment Technicians operate, maintain, repair and test automotive electrical systems in ground equipment. Ford is currently conducting Aircraft Compatibility Testing to further test its Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch Systems (EMALS) and Advanced Arresting Gear (AAG).
