    ATLANTIC OCEAN (Jan. 21, 2020) Sailors assigned to USS Gerald R. Ford's (CVN 78) air department move lock out stations used to perform jet blast deflector (JBD) maintenance and cleaning prior to flight operations. A JBD is a series of water cooled panels located behind the catapult system that when raised deflect and cool exhaust allowing an aircraft to go to full power during launch.
