Two multi-mission interceptor vessels demonstrate their speed and agility as they arrive at a dock in Cabrits National Park, Portsmouth, Dominica, May 31, prior to the morning ceremony where the donation of these vessels mark the first of several throughout the Caribbean basin as part of the Secure Seas program. Secure Seas is a program that falls under the Caribbean Basin Security Initiative, and, as a maritime security assistance initiative, aims to bolster the capabilities of Dominica and other Caribbean nations to deter threats associated with transnational Organized Crime with the larger objective of creating Citizen Security. The ceremony, which ended with the commissioning of the two vessels, marks the completion of the delivery of a package valued at about $2 million. The complete package delivered to the Commonwealth of Dominica included two vessels, on board and ashore communications equipment, training and technical support, two-year inventory of maintenance and repair parts, boat trailers, and a heavy-duty pick-up truck.
