COPPERAS COVE, Texas – (Oct. 16, 2019) Interior Communications Electrician 1st Class Richard Raymond (left) of Canyon Lake, Texas, assigned to Navy Recruiting Station Copperas Cove, was presented with a Gold Wreath Recruiting Award by Capt. Glen O’Loughlin of West Union, Iowa, commodore of Navy Recruiting Region West, Navy Recruiting Command during O’Loughlin’s visit to the recruiting station. Raymond, a 1998 graduate of Smithson Valley High School in Spring Branch, Texas, joined America’s Navy in 2001 becoming a recruiter in 2017. He previously served aboard the Nimitz-class, nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76). Navy Recruiting District (NRD) San Antonio’s area of responsibility includes more than 34 Navy Recruiting Stations and Navy Officer Recruiting Stations spread throughout 144,000 square miles of Central and South Texas territory.
