FORT MITCHELL, Ala. – A woman at Fort Benning’s 2018 Oktoberfest strains with effort during a keg-tossing contest. The annual Oktoberfest draws thousands to Fort Benning for three days of fun that features German food, German music, stein-lifting and other contests, races, a Volksmarch, real German draught beer, dog competitions, and plenty of other fun for adults and kids alike. Cost is $5 for adults 18 and older. It’s free for children accompanied by an adult. Pets are allowed. Scheduled for this year’s Oktoberfest is music by a band, the Sonnenschein Express, a yodeling group called Bavarian Yodelers, and by Fort Benning’s Maneuver Center of Excellence Band.
