FORT MITCHELL, Ala. – During Fort Benning’s 2018 Oktoberfest, musicians in traditional German garb entertain some of thousands who attended the annual event, which draws thousands each year to Fort Benning for three days of fun. The celebration features German food, German music, stein-lifting and other contests, races, a Volksmarch, real German draught beer, dog competitions, and plenty of other fun for adults and kids alike. Cost is $5 for adults 18 and older. It’s free for children accompanied by an adult. Pets are allowed. Scheduled for this year’s Oktoberfest is music by a band, the Sonnenschein Express, a yodeling group called Bavarian Yodelers, and by Fort Benning’s Maneuver Center of Excellence Band.
