Joshua Schmitz, 818th Mobility Support Advisory Squadron survival, evasion, resistance and escape specialist, looks at the American flag while marching towards ground zero in New York City Sept. 11, 2019. Volunteers participated in a 100 mile ruck march from Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey to the 9/11 Memorial in remembrance of the attacks 18 years ago. Throughout the 100 miles, participants took turns carrying a prisoner of war/missing in action flag along with an American flag that served in Afghanistan to commemorate the individuals who lost their lives during the attacks.
