A large formation of U.S. Navy personnel in white dress uniforms are assembled inside what appears to be the hangar bay of an aircraft carrier. A senior enlisted or officer in the foreground is rendering a salute, suggesting a formal ceremony such as a change of command, retirement, or official inspection. The setting, uniforms, and disciplined formation indicate a significant military ceremonial event.

GULF OF ADEN (Sept. 15, 2019) Sailors and U.S. Marines aboard amphibious assault ship USS Boxer (LHD 4) stand in formation during Boxer’s change-of-command ceremony in the hangar bay. During the ceremony, Capt. Dale Heinken relieved Capt. Ronald Dowdell as the ship’s commanding officer. Boxer is part of the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group and 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit and is deployed to the U.S. 5th Fleet area of operations in support of naval operations to ensure maritime stability and security in the Central Region, connecting the Mediterranean and the Pacific through the Western Indian Ocean and three strategic choke points.
