190821-N-LQ653-0216 SAN DIEGO (Aug. 21, 2019) Coast Guardsmen assigned to Maritime Safety Response Team (MSRT) West fast-rope onto the deck of Aerial Target Launch Ship (ATLS-9701) from an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter from the “Blackjacks” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 while conducting helicopter visit, board, search & seizure (HVBSS) training operations off the coast of San Diego. MSRT West is training with several squadrons from Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Pacific to board and secure vessels that may be held by terrorists holding hostages.
