190822-N-LQ653-0027 SAN DIEGO (Aug. 22, 2019) Coast Guardsmen assigned to Maritime Safety Response Team (MSRT) West prepare to fast-rope onto the deck of Aerial Target Launch Ship (ATLS-9701) from an MH-60S Seahawk helicopter from the “Blackjacks” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 21 while conducting helicopter visit, board, search & seizure (HVBSS) training operations off the coast of San Diego. MSRT West is training with several squadrons from Helicopter Sea Combat Wing Pacific and Helicopter Sea Combat Weapons School Pacific to board and secure vessels that may be held by terrorists holding hostages.
