SANTA RITA, Guam (Aug. 22, 2019) Gunnery Sgt. Joshua Firth, a native of Seaside, Oregon, assigned to III Marine Expeditionary Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal, observes as Cmdr. Carlos Mita, assigned to Her Majesty’s New Zealand Ship Matataua, how to operate a Broco torch during a mechanical-breaching subject matter expert knowledge exchange as part of Exercise HYDRACRAB 2019. HYDRACRAB is a quadrilateral exercise conducted by forces from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and U.S. naval forces. The purpose of this exercise is to prepare the participating Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) forces to operate as an integrated, capable, and potent allied force ready to respond to a changing and complex maritime environment in the Indo-Pacific region.
