    Exercise Balikatan

U.S. Marine Sgt. Phillip J. Sever lifts children into a jet of water during an Exercise Balikatan 2012 community relations event here, April 24. The Marines sprayed 1,800 gallons of water into a field turning the town into a water park. Hundreds of Santa Juliana residents, Philippine and U.S. Marines came out to play in the drops of joy that were welcomed in the sweltering heat. “This is so great for the children and the community,” said resident Elvie Cauduli. “Everyone is outside together. I wish they could do it again.” She then said jokingly, “How about tomorrow?” BK12 is an annual Republic of the Philippines-U.S. military exercise focusing on field training, humanitarian assistance and a command post exercise.
