A diver with the 74th Engineer Dive Detachment, 92nd Engineer Battalion, 20th Engineer Brigade, secures his equipment before a dive on July 21, 2019 at Ft. Hood, Texas. Ensuring equipment functionality is critical for diver safety and enables the success of any mission they support. For Exercise Hood Strike, the 74th were tasked with underwater reconnaissance of the riverbanks. By using sonar and hydrographic survey systems, the 74th can advise the 420th Engineer Brigade on the conditions of the river before their bridge crossing operation.
